Cadillac Mountain, Dorr Mountain
Bar Harbor, ME
Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.
The upper Gorge Trail on the way up Cadillac Mountain
Route: Gorge Path, Dorr North Ridge Path, Hemlock Trail, Gorge Path
After morning rain, Gorge Path was moist in places. Above treeline, things were drying up nicely. Chose to descend via Dorr North Ridge Trail, which had a few slippery ledges, but was on the whole a lot easier (and more scenic) than the Gorge Path below it.

Directions to trailhead: From Route 233 west of Bar Harbor, take Park Loop Road south toward Cadillac Mountain. Take a left onto the one-way-traffic segment toward Sand Beach. The Gorge Trail trailhead and small parking pull off will be on the right shortly thereafter. By getting off at the subsequent Route 3 exit, one can avoid going through the park tollbooth.
