Looking down the Blue Trail
Route: Red Hill Trail, Blue Trail
Finally was able to check out this new trail on Red Hill.
Started on the Red Hill Trail, following it up to the kiosk where the Red Hill Trail goes left (through the chain) and the snowmobile trail goes straight. Continued on this snowmobile trail (blue plastic blazes) up to the height of land. Soft/slightly muddy in a few places, but otherwise okay.
From the height of land, the trail bears left and descends to a cabin on wood road like trail. From the cabin up, it's a proper foot trail (not well worn in, but well marked) that climbs up the ridge. Didn't notice any viewpoints in particular, but there were some looks east through the trees.
Nice trail, moderate grades, a few 10 or so vertical foot dips, open woods. Phone GPS put it at 1.85 miles from parking lot to tower.
Took the regular Red Hill Trail down - dry and in good shape. Noted a few trailing arbutus in bloom.
