Whiteface Mountain
Gilford, NH
Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.
The Whiteface Mountain Trail
Route: Piper Whiteface Trail, Whiteface Trail, (Whiteface Mountain summit), Whiteface Trail, Piper Whiteface Trail
Maybe another inch of powder since my visit at the end of last week. However, it did make a difference, as the depth/texture of the snow is better covering the ice underneath. Drifts on the Jeep Road portion of the Whiteface Mountain Trail are a good 6-8 inches deep.
I wore Microspikes roundtrip, as I wasn't sure if it would be too bony for snowshoes. The very start and the ledges are, but otherwise it'd be good snowshoeing at this juncture; a frozen base with about 2" of powder on top.
