Mt. Bemis Trail

The fire warden's trail to Mt. Bemis likely opened when the fire tower went into service in 1940. The trail was likely closed after the tower was taken down, reportedly due to the creosote covered remains.

The logging road that coincides with the lower part of the Nancy Pond Trail (as far as the cabin) formerly continued about 2 m. farther to the Mt. Bemis lookout tower (which was dismantled in 1968), but a large part of this route is now very obscure.
