Shingle Pond Trail. (C.T.A.)
The C.T.A. opened this route in 1927. The Mt. Kearsarge Trail is followed to a point a short distance beyond the “last water,” at the foot of the long climb to Shingle Knob. Here (sign) the Shingle Pond Trail leaves on the S. At first it follows a logging road, which it leaves on the R. (sign) and soon passes around N.W. of the pond. Beyond the pond it again reaches a logging road, which is followed to Kearsarge Village.
Distances. South Chatham Road to Shingle Pond Trail 3.5 m. (2 hrs. 30 min.); to Shingle Pond 4 m. (2 hrs. 45 min.); to Kearsarge Village 6 ¼ m. (3 hrs. 45 min.).

The Chatham-Kearsarge Trail is followed to a point a short distance beyond the “last water,” at the foot of the long climb to Shingle Knob. Here (sign) the Shingle Pond Trail diverges S. At first it follows a logging road, but shortly diverges R. (sign) and soon passes round N.W. of the pond. Beyond the pond it reaches another logging road, which it follows to Kearsarge Village.
Distances. South Chatham Road to Shingle Pond Trail 3 ½ m. (2 hrs. 15 min.); to Shingle Pond 4 7/8 m. (2 hrs. 40 min.); to Kearsarge Village 6 ¼ m. (3 hrs. 45 min.).
