Ascending before sunrise
Route: West Slopes
Starting before sunrise, we made our way across the frost covered boardwalks and eventually to the brook crossing which, though not running high or fast, was a little tricky.
The actual ascent was fairly tame until the final summit cone. Lots of steps, switchbacks, and wildflowers. After passing by a snowfield, the final ascent had some very minor scrambling.
We managed to get down just before some nasty thunderstorms and hail rolled in.

Directions to trailhead: From Georgetown off I-70, take Guanella Pass Scenic Byway south to Guanella Pass. The main parking lot be on the left just before the pass. The trailhead is at the back of the parking lot, to the left of the outhouse.
