Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.
Heading up one of the old ski trails to the Prospect Hill summit
Since I was in the area for the day and the weather was great, I decided to take a quick hike up Prospect Hill in Waltham.
After walking through some sort of cookout party thing in the base area, I arrived at the bottom of the old ski area.
The initial ascent was direct and moderately steep, via a single file path up the growing in old slope. At the top of this slope, the tree growth increases and the pitch decreases. Soon, I was walking past the two water tanks and up a paved road to the summit.
While I had read there were excellent views of Boston from the top of Prospect Hill, this wasn't quite accurate - the views are on a smaller peak just north of it (not enough time to go to it). Nonetheless, there were nice views to the northwest from a pavillion near the summit.
