About

Mt. Jefferson
Thompson and Meserve's Purchase, NH

Mt. Jefferson as seen from Mt. Monroe
Mt. Jefferson as seen from Mt. Monroe

Location mapSummary
Mt. Jefferson is named after the former United States President Thomas Jefferson, not the sitcom character George Jefferson as some may believe. It is the third highest peak in New England and features views in all directions from its rocky summit.

Due to harsh weather, above treeline exposure, and the seasonal closure of Jefferson Notch Road, access to Mt. Jefferson in winter becomes much more difficult.

Summit Elevation
5,712 feet

Summit Facilities
None.
