About

Mt. Rowe
Gilford, NH

Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.
The Fletcher Hale Trail
The Fletcher Hale Trail

Route: Ridge Trail, bushwhack

First portion of Belknap Range Trail corresponds with the plowed access for the ski jumps. About 1-2" of new powder this morning with snow still coming down.

Above the top ski jump turn (trail turns left to stay on tower access road), the trail had only seen ski traffic. Maybe a foot or so of powder on top of an icy base.

After going to the view, south of the summit, we doubled back, hopped over to the top of the old Alpine Ridge ski area, then, from the top switchback of the access road/Belknap Range Trail, dropped into the woods on the old Fletcher Hale ski trail, was is mostly overgrown with saplings. It opens up nicely toward the bottom, where a nordic trail joins it (groomed) and empties out at the bottom of the ski jumps. From there, it was a quick snowshoe up groomed trail back to the base lodge.
