Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.
Blowdown clogged Sosman Trail
Route: Ski trails, Sosman Trail, Mt. Tecumseh Trail, (summit), Sosman Trail, Mt. Tecumseh Trail
The recovery after the wind storm.
Beelined up the ski area first; ski trails have dried out just fine.
Sosman Trail had a few large blowdowns, a couple of uproots, and lots deadfall/debris. I was able to clear all blowdowns on it this evening.
Mt. Tecumseh had some large blowdowns on the upper and lower thirds of the trail (interesting, there were no blowdowns on the stretch that's within earshot of the ski trail). Lots of erosion and running water on the parts of the trail that don't have waterbars. I was able to remove all but one stepover blowdown (will come back later) this evening.
Quickly lost count of the blowdowns, but it was well into the dozens. It's going to be a race to clean up the hiking trails before the snow flies.
Hiking trails were wet this evening and there was some black ice on roots on the ridge.
