Trailheads, measurements, times, distances, and maps are all approximate and relative to the hike(s) as shown below.
Looking up a trail up the former lift line
Route: Ski trails
Whites Pinnacle aka the defunct Monteau/Swiftwater ski area in Haverhill off Route 112, just outside the WMNF.
Open slope up the first 200 or so vertical feet could be barebooted. From the top left side of that slope, a path enters the woods and works its way up the overgrown lift line to the summit. About half of it had spring snow perhaps a foot deep, while the balance had mud and running water. I opted for snowshoes.
About 50 vertical feet before the summit, there is a ledge on the left that provides decent directional views. Otherwise, the summit views are obscured by saplings.
For the descent, I followed one of the trails on the eastern side of the ski area, which appears to be maintained for snowmobile and hiking use. There was snow much of the way down, about 6-12" deep.
Also of note was some signage at the bottom about some hiking trails (but no map).

The bottom of the old ski area
Looking northwest, possible at Mt. Mansfield in the far distance, from a ledge near the summit of Whites Pinnacle
Directions to trailhead: From Route 116 near Benton, take Route 112 west, then take a left onto Swiftwater Circle. Take a left onto Valley Road. Take a left onto Lodge Lane. There should be room to park adjacent to the tennis courts. The old ski area is just beyond the tennis courts, on the right.
